The goal was to create a product, branding, and associated packaging. I created a home goods brand and coasters as a featured product. It’s a light and fun take on retro diner food, featuring 3 coasters and a pan holder. For this project, I went a little deeper and wanted to show my process.

At first I was playing with the concept of chicken coasters, but I decided to break down the elements and simplify which left me with eggs as coasters.

After deciding the coaster concept, this opened up the opportunity for a diner themed packaging. I wanted it to be the stereotypical 50s diner look, and checkered backgrounds and cut outs were the way to go.

The logo was my favorite part of the process. I decided to take inspiration from diner signs, and made sure to research the “50s diner look.”

I derived my inspiration from current frying pan packaging, but I had to decide how to present the product with such a limited space.

It was then time to create the product. I took plywood and acrylic plastic and laser cut each shape, then I used a solvent to stick the pieces together.
